Liverpool and Bayern Munich have agreed a fee of £35 million for the transfer of Senegalese forward Sadio Mane to the German outfit

German Champions, Bayern Munich have agreed a £35 million(41m euros) fee with Liverpool for the transfer of Senegalese forward Sadio Mane. His medical is scheduled to take place next week.

The deal was confirmed by Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, while speaking to Sky Sports Germany. He was asked a question on Mane. “Yes Mane is coming to Bayern” he answered.

Several reports have linked Mane away from Liverpool this transfer window. Although, the transfer has been on the cards, after several bids from the Germans were rejected by Liverpool.

The Senegalese forward is poised to sign a three year contract with the German outfit until 2025, after spending six years at Liverpool with a year left in his contract.

Mane will become the third player to sign for Bayern this season. Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazrouai both from Ajax joined the club last week.

Liverpool who earlier this week secured the signing of 22 year old winger Darwin Nunez. He is seen as a replacement for the Senegalese international.

Mane’s departure from Liverpool, makes him only the second first team player to leave the club, with Divock Origi leaving on a free transfer at the end of last season.

Mane who participated in the Champions league final for Liverpool, struck the bar as he was unable to see his team to a victory in that match. The 30 year old was signed by Liverpool from Southampton in 2016 for £33.5 million.

Sadio Mane has since gone on to win several premier league titles for the club including the FA cup and Carabao cup last season. He netted 23 times in all competitions for the Reds last season. He also helped the club win the Premier league, Champions league, UEFA Super league and Club World Cup.

The Senegal forward helped his country clinch the African Cup of Nations title earlier this year. While at Liverpool, Mane had 269 appearances and scored 120 goals assisting 48. He scored 90 goals in the premier league for the Reds during his stay at the club.

Bayern, knocked out by Spanish side Villarreal in the quarter final stages of the Champions league, would be pleased to add to their options in attack. They will also hope they can achieve success in Europe this season, as they have dominated their domestic league for several years.

Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski 33, has expressed his desire to leave the club this summer. Reports have linked him with a move to Barcelona who have shown interests in the Polish striker. The signing of Mane could make way for Lewandowski’s potential exit from the club. Lewandowski has one year left in his contract at the club. Bayern would prefer the Polish striker to see out his contract at the club. Barcelona have confirmed Dani Alves will be leaving the club, as they would not be renewing his contract. As a result, they would seek to make key additions to the squad.

Mane, who was in the line-up for Senegal in their AFCON Qualifiers match against Benin Republic scored three times which took Senegal to the top of the table. Bayern Munich would be hoping the 30-year old forward, Mane can bring his quality and experience to the club.
