Chelsea are believed to be interested in signing Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, who would be a popular addition to the current squad.
Thomas Tuchel is said to be a great fan of the England international, and Chelsea are considering a £35 million approach to put Manchester City’s resolve to the test. The Premier League champions, on the other hand, will only accept a bid of around £60 million.
Since Todd Boehly finalized his £4.25 billion acquisition in May, the west London club has yet to make a deal, and Tuchel is anxious to add to his team this summer. The German is a big fan of Sterling’s skills and wants to bring the 27-year-old to Stamford Bridge. Sterling has 131 goals for City.
Sterling is one of the Premier League’s most reliable goal scorers, but his long-term future at the Etihad is in doubt after the £100 million purchase of Jack Grealish last summer. After seven years in Manchester, a new challenge with Chelsea may be appealing.
There’s no denying that his arrival would be well-received by the Chelsea team. Mason Mount, Reece James, and Callum Hudson-Odoi are among the club’s England internationals, and Sterling is already acquainted with them.
Hudson-Odoi, a Cobham graduate who first got into the first squad in 2018, has revealed that Sterling has motivated him to pursue a career in football, describing the veteran striker as his “hero.”
In 2019, he remarked, “Someone like Raheem is like an idol to me.” “The position he plays and what he’s accomplishing for club and country is incredible, and I’m going to attempt to emulate that.”
It’s great to have someone as talented and interesting as him around all the time. . I’d like to continue learning from what he does. Raheem is a really sweet man who is always supportive and upbeat in everything he does. I didn’t anticipate him to be so polite when I initially arrived [to the England setup]. Of course, he’s a wonderful guy, but seeing someone constantly greet you, chat to you, give you advise on how to play, and just be around you makes you feel really welcome in the squad.”

Similarly, after meeting Sterling in a frontal battle when City faced Chelsea, James has commented about the challenge of facing a player of Sterling’s ability.
Last year, the right-back stated, “Everyone knows how excellent a player Raheem Sterling is, and it’s incredibly difficult playing against him.”
He commented, “I’d say Sadio Mane and Raheem Sterling are probably the toughest.”
