Cristiano Ronaldo stunned Manchester United at the beginning of the summer when he declared his desire to join a club that will play in the Champions League in the upcoming campaign.
In a vehement social media post, Cristiano Ronaldo has refuted claims that he is adamantly seeking to leave Manchester United.
The Portuguese international shocked the Red Devils at the beginning of the summer when he declared his desire to sign for a team that will participate in the Champions League in the upcoming campaign. Then, for personal reasons, he chose not to accompany his colleagues on United’s preseason tour to Thailand and Australia.
Tuesday saw Ronaldo and Jorge Mendes return to United’s Carrington training facility for crucial discussions with Erik ten Hag. In accordance with the terms of his contract, United want to keep Ronaldo’s services for another season and have ruled out moving him to a rival club. Sir Alex Ferguson was present at the base, however it is unknown whether the Scot talked with the 37-year-old.
Ronaldo apparently hasn’t changed his mind and is determined to find a new job, although he recently made it clear that he isn’t as eager to leave Manchester United as has been implied.
The Portugal international responded to a fan’s Instagram post on the Ronaldo scandal, the first time he has ever publicly addressed the rumors about him.
The message said: “Cristiano Ronaldo is determined about leaving, according to Jorge Mendes, but Mendes departed negotiations with little confidence that Ronaldo will obtain his wish. Sir Alex Ferguson stepped in to help. Ronaldo is not for sale, according to United.”
In response, Ronaldo: “It’s impossible not to bring me up one day. The media would not be able to make money. You are aware that you cannot attract attention if you do not lie. Continue on so that you can receive the right news one day.”
Even though Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid have ruled themselves out of the running, United has yet to receive a bid for Ronaldo.
