Jack Grealish reacted angrily as their friendly against Club America rapidly got violent in the United States.
After starting a heated argument during Manchester City’s preseason victory during their tour of the United States, Jack Grealish set out to demonstrate that there is no such thing as a friendly.
The two had a dispute during a preseason exhibition game against Club America,
which City won 2-1, and the 26-year-old got into a confrontation with Mexico’s goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.
Grealish is accustomed to getting lumps knocked out of him on a weekly basis after gaining the reputation of being one of the Premier League’s most often fouled players.
He also received a yellow card after being the victim of a crushing challenge from American Bruno Valdez.
When he bundled into Ochoa following a collision between the two players, his frustrations were already on the verge of boiling over in the oppressive heat inside Houston Dynamo’s NRG Stadium.
Grealish let him know in no uncertain terms what he thought after starting a shoving battle between the two.
Ochoa could be seen extending his hand to Grealish to assist him in getting up off the ground. However, the attacker had no intention of making amends.
He reacted angrily to the challenge and told the referee that he should have been awarded a free kick.
As he dragged himself to his feet, the Mexican offered him a friendly nudge, and an enraged Grealish
faced up with the Mexican goalkeeper, pushing Ochoa away from him.
Naturally, the action only served to enrage Ochoa as he returned the favor, setting to a confrontation between the two. Before being split apart by their teammates,
two Americans raced over to confront Grealish as he continued to display his rage against the goalie.
Grealish squandered his one meaningful opportunity to put his name on the scoreboard,
but the midfielder’s all-around performance would have encouraged
those worried about his performances from last season.
The England international, who joined City in a British transfer record deal from Aston Villa,
will be aiming for a significant improvement this season after scoring just three Premier League goals
in his inaugural campaign at the Etihad Stadium.
Raheem Sterling, who was his major rival for a position in the first squad, is now playing for Chelsea,
giving Grealish an opportunity to impress his Catalan coach.
The £100 million striker was in top form as he set up Kevin De Bruyne’s two goals, which helped the Premier League winners secure a 2-1 victory.
After 30 minutes, a Belgian scored first, then Kevin Jean equalized shortly before halftime. However, De Bruyne increased his total in only two minutes, giving Guardiola a triumph that lifted his spirits.
