Richarlison makes his debut, 5 things you missed on Tottenham preseason
Here are five takeaways from Tottenham Hotspur’s thrilling 9-goal preseason opener against Antonio Conte’s team on Wednesday.
With a 6-3 victory over Team K League in Seoul, South Korea, Tottenham Hotspur began their preseason schedule on Wednesday.
After Kim Jin-own hyuk’s goal in the second half, Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min, who both scored twice last season, scored twice each for Spurs after Eric Dier gave them the lead.
It was the first of Antonio Conte’s team’s four preseason friendly. Spurs will next play Sevilla in South Korea before wrapping up their schedule with matches against Rangers and Roma in Glasgow and Haifa,
respectively. The nine-goal thriller involving Spurs in South Korea is highlighted by these five important moments.
Son and Kane scored goals.
It took both players being added in the second half for Kane and Son to each score twice to give Conte’s team the win. At halftime,
Son was introduced in place of Emerson Royal a few minutes after Kane, who was one of six players to enter the game, replaced Bryan Gil.
With only three friendlies left before the start of their league season, Kane’s strikes against Germany and Italy in the Nations League will be a welcome lift for Conte.
Kane closed the last campaign with a goal for England, but he was unable to hit the back of the net in either match.
In the meanwhile, Son’s two goals in the span of 17 minutes will have pleased him, Conte, and the 64,100 spectators watching as the co-golden boot winner from the previous season sparkled on his homecoming in South Korea.
A second coronavirus blast
Since both Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster tested positive for coronavirus, they were unable to make their Spurs debuts in the 6-3 victory.
Midfielder Bissouma was acquired by Tottenham from Brighton & Hove Albion for £25 million, and goalkeeper Fraser Forster joined on a free transfer after leaving Southampton.
Both men will now have to fly back to London separately from the rest of the team and miss the match against Sevilla on Saturday.
another recent addition and a free move Ivan Perisic is with the team in South Korea but was not part of the squad since he is still getting in shape for the next season.

Ex-loanees are given a chance.
Gil and Pape Matar Sarr, who each played a half in the match and spent last season on loan with Metz and Valenica, respectively, were among those who appeared for Spurs in the friendly.
Sarr spent the majority of the previous season on loan in Ligue 1, whilst Gil only spent the closing months back in Spain. The victory in South Korea provided both players with an opportunity to make an impression on Conte ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Young players Brandon Austin, Troy Parrott, Havery White, Charlie Sayers, and Malachi Fagan-Walcott all participated in the game.
Free-kick joy
Kane scored for Spurs straight from a free-kick for the first time since doing so against Aston Villa in the Premier League in 2014, increasing the likelihood that he will continue to play set-pieces for the upcoming campaign.
As Tottenham rallied to a late romp of goals against Team K League, who played the final 19 minutes with 10 men after Kim Dong-min was offside, the England captain,
who is sometimes criticized for his free-kick skills, had a low effort deflect in precisely like his previous free-kick goal for Tottenham.
While Kane’s English teammate Dier has also shown to be a skilled free-kick taker in the past, Son scored twice from free kicks for his nation last month. However,
Kane is expected to continue as the primary free-kick taker following his success in Korea.
Richarlison, a club-record acquisition, started up front in the starting lineup, leading a front three that also featured Gil and Lucas Moura.
Richarlison started the game up front but switched positions at the break, showcasing his adaptability when Kane joined the game and eventually scored.
Conte will undoubtedly benefit greatly from getting more than 75 minutes out of Richarlison, who cost a club record £60 million to acquire.
His addition strengthens a strong group of offensive alternatives that already includes Kane, Son, Lucas, and Dejan Kulusevski.
